Soldiers must carry many items with them. Some Soldiers carry binoculars to see great distances. Follow the steps below to make your own binoculars for your next adventure!

Directions:  Follow the steps below to create your own pair of binoculars.

    Materials Needed:

    • Empty cardboard toilet paper rolls
    • Glue or tape
    • Duct tape
    • Spray paint (matte or glossy) or construction paper (green or black)
    • String, yarn, twine, or macrame string
    • Scissors
    1. Take one toilet paper roll and place a strip of hot glue parallel down the roll. Place your second roll on the first and press them together for about 10 seconds to secure the glue.
    • Take your black spray paint and spray 1 to 2 coats of paint onto the connected rolls. Make sure not to miss any spots! Let dry. If you opted for construction paper:  wrap your toilet paper roll with your construction paper. Make sure to tape it down!
    • Next, measure out your string. It. Should be long enough to reach from your fingertips to mid-chest. Cut your string.
    • Measure out your duct tape so it can almost be wrapped around the two toilet paper rolls. Cut your duct tape and wrap the piece of duct tape around the bottom of your binoculars, tucking the string into the tape on each side of the binoculars to secure it.
